If you hang around me for more than five minutes, you will inevitably hear me rhapsodize about Great Big Sea, one of my all-time favorite bands. They were a lively quartet, and later quintet, out of Newfoundland up until they broke up in 2013. I still love ’em to death, not only because their two lead singers were drop-dead gorgeous, not only because of their high-energy folk music, but because they inspired me to resume playing music myself after a long dry spell. I play the guitar because of them. I have a bouzouki because of them. For these things alone, I’ll always love my B’ys. So in their honor, I keep these photos up for viewing!

Great Big Sea is a widely photographed band, and there have been a number of photo sites and collections dedicated to them on the Net over the years. My own collection is comparatively very modest, and mostly contributed to by folks who kindly gave me permission to use their pictures.

Signed By the B’ys

A signed T-shirt sent to me by my friend Elane during the XX Tour

My friend Elane got to see Great Big Sea backstage since she and her wife scored a super-fancy deluxe ticket package on the XX Tour! But since Elane and Bai love me and want me to be happy, they grabbed me a T-shirt and got the B’ys to SIGN IT! I’d already bought this exact same shirt at a show earlier on the tour, but that’s okay. This meant I was able to frame this one. 😀
